Face to Visage

Let us turn the orientation of the Lucien Lévy-Dhurmer's painting of the couple John the Baptist and Salome.

John the Baptist & Salome

John the Baptist by Leonardo da Vinci 1516 Louvre. Salome by Lucien Lévy-Dhurmer 1896. Salomé by Tsai Ming-liang 2009.

With regard to the painting, the strength of the Face movie poster is that one only sees the heads but not any body.
In the movie poster, Salome gives a very strange and mysterious kiss.

Face to face with Salomé, in her sweet arms,
John the Baptist closed the eyes.

Salomé tilted her head back [renversa sa tête en arrière] of pleasure.
Like one rolls over in bed,
she took the upper hand [elle prit le dessus].

But Salomé is the master of a mortal game:

The death of John the Baptist could symbolize the death of the Truffaut's cinema,
hence above his grave at the Montmartre cemetery
with the illusion of the John the Baptist's painting by Leonardo da Vinci.
